obama on the fifth of november

barack obama has won the presidency. congratulations obama, i did not vote for you. yes, it is a historic election. a black man has made it to the highest office in the land, arguably the highest office in the world, and he did it without the aid of affirmative action. (perhaps now the african americans can give up their fear of open competition and compete for jobs/opportunities on an even playing field, qualifications alone, but i digress). i don't usually delve into politics as i find it too depressing but the presidential election is a hard one to miss. without running off on a tangent, let me just remind everyone the significance of this day, november 5th. even after a new president is elected we must stay vigilant and remember that threats to our country and to our freedom come from outside our borders and from within our borders. they come from our politicians, be they good, misguided, or just plain idiots, and they come from us for allowing them to continue being misguided, corrupt, or forever in office. "governments should be afraid of their people" not in terrorizing but in excellent memories on election day. see you in four years.

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I can think of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
