other people's blogs: inside the twisted mind of the security professional

so i found this blog post while rummaging around the web. yes, i know, you are saying, "it's not written by mark so why should i go there?" but yes, you should. it's an interesting think piece that talks about some of the things that go through the mind of people who work with security stuff. sadly, some of this stuff goes through my head. no, i don't look around for the loop holes in a store's security system but when it comes to technology or that smartwater and the ants he brings up, yeah, i would do that. this is why they say "it takes one to know one" and "it takes a thief to catch a thief". you have to think like a hacker to protect your computer from hackers. it's kind of fun, actually. anyway, its a short post, you no longer have any excuse, go read it :)

dipity

it's a web 2.0 social network centered around creating timelines.

my internet life as a timeline

dipity.com creates timelines from rss feeds from anywhere. naturally i just had to make one from the rss of this website, and my flicker stuff, and whatever else i end up joining. people are making timelines for all sorts of stuff like star trek, star wars, i want to do one one Biblical events. its still a new website so they have a few bugs to work out, for instance, we can't do bc dates yet, only ad and it dosen't seem to want to do single digit years for me yet nor does it want to do dates past 2050. hopefully these will all be resolved soon. once i really get the Bible timeline going i will post that here as well.

mirror's edge of innovative gaming

mirror's edge is a new game coming out of ea's swedish company dice (they do the battlefront games). it now has a release date of november 11, 2008 and a trailer that puts this game on my wish list. its set in the near future where big brother is monitoring all kinds of communication. they read the mail, listen to phone calls, digital traffic, everything. so how do you keep a secret? go old school pen and paper. but they read the mail so how do you deliver it?

hell wyrm over break and other ramblings

i did a decent job on my finals and now i get a week off from school and clinic. my goal for this break?

the hello kitty rifle: it's real and it's legal

yeap, it's real and it's legal. there are several anti-rifle laws out there, but this rifle is not baned by anyone. it turns out that the law defines a rifle with specific parts like a collapsable stock, a bayonett slot, a 30 round clip, and dark colors.

i went to a concert! :)

yeap, on sunday night my sister, her husband, and myself went down to the house of blues on the sunset strip in west hollywood. we had dinner at the saddleback steak house before walking a short block to reach the concert. the band "paul and storm" opened the concert followed by "jonathan coulton".
