finally a new star wars mmo!! this time there is no sony involvement, being developed by ea games instead, i have high hopes for this game. above is the release video from youtube. the game takes place 3,500 years before the rise of darth vader and 300 years after kotor 1. the ancient sith empire returns to take on the republic.
star trek online was given over to cryptic studios earlier this year. cryptic has been developing a game engine that allows their programmers to build the game within the engine itself. what does this mean for star trek online? it means that in only a few short months they already a playable version of the game. not complete yet, but its getting pretty close.
star wars galaxies was the first mmo i ever played and i loved it. i joined from day one and couldn't get enough of it. then sony went and changed everything about the game and thousands left in protest, myself included. just the other day i noticed a little project seeking to correct sony's mistakes. swgmu is an attempt to emulate the server and run the game as it was meant to be played from the begining. it is currently only running as a test server and about 80% of the game is completed. i can't wait for ths project to be completed!
gamespot has this game listed as an action rpg but the preview i read sounded more like a strategy of some sort. either way it looks like it will be a very cool game that easily makes it onto my must buy list.
yeap, its another weird one. its been out for a while on the ps2 but it only recently showed up in my internet wanderings. its a 2d fighting game with excellent graphics and even better reviews. so what is the wierd part? all the characters are cliche anime female roles with monsters and mechs as their weapons. i wouldn't pay much for it, but it looks like it could be a lot of fun to play.
just when you thought we had all put mortal kombat behind us, they have invaded the dcu. yeap, its sub-zero versus superman and batman versus flash. from the screenshots i gather that the graphics are excellant and you can fight not only dcu vs mk, but also dcu vs dcu and, i'm assuming, mk vs mk. both light and dark characters are promised (got to have the joker, but what about mongul and darksied?) no release date yet but i do have a question...
i love the diablo series, and this new game, from the trailer and the gameplay video, looks like it will not be a disappointment. its too soon to know any details yet and they have not announced a release date, but i am very excited about this news!!
mirror's edge is a new game coming out of ea's swedish company dice (they do the battlefront games). it now has a release date of november 11, 2008 and a trailer that puts this game on my wish list. its set in the near future where big brother is monitoring all kinds of communication. they read the mail, listen to phone calls, digital traffic, everything. so how do you keep a secret? go old school pen and paper. but they read the mail so how do you deliver it?
apparently perpetual entertainment (a gaming development company) has suffered another round of lay offs and, as a result, has ceased its development of the much anticipated star trek online mmo. the license and content of the game has been transfered to a bay area developer who is yet unnamed. this has the feeling of vaporware all over it which would be a huge disappointment as i have really been looking forward to this game.
the trailer for stargate worlds has finally aired! its a science-fiction mmorpg utilizing the stargate to travel between worlds. rumor has the beta release date around may of 2008 so its still a long ways off, but i can't wait play this game. :)
